Today I’m starting a new venture and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I have officially started a Patreon page! (check it out here)
For those of you who haven’t heard about this service basically it’s a website where art fans can support the artists they follow (or become their Patrons if you will). It’s like tipping someone for the work they’re already creating, or in their words:
“Patreon is a way to pay your favorite creators for making the stuff you love. Instead of literally throwing money at your screen (trust us, that doesn’t work), you can now pledge a few bucks per thing that a creator makes. For example, if you pledge $2 per video, and the creator releases 3 videos in February, then your card gets charged a total of $6 that month. This means the creator gets paid regularly (every time she releases something new), and you become a bonafide, real-life patron of the arts. That’s right. Imagine you, in a long frilly white wig, painted on a 10-foot canvas on the wall of a Victorian mansion. And imagine your favorite creators making a living doing what they do best… because of you.”
While this venture will open up another avenue to support the creation of my art, for me this is largely about: sharing my process, recording my work and progress thoroughly and efficiently and taking the encouragement of my Patrons to create as much work as possible.
I am so lucky to be supported by such an amazing network of friends and family, it really is their encouragement that keeps me going. This page is just another way for people to show their support for my work. I’m not sure how this whole thing will pan out but onward and upward as they say.
Take a look at the page, let me know what you think and let me know if you have any questions! (Sara’s Patreon page here)
